The RSA Conference, now often referred to as RSAC Conference, is one of the most influential gatherings in cybersecurity. Founded in 1991 around cryptographic innovation, it has evolved into a global platform fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and technological progress in information security.
The first RSA Conference began as a modest cryptography-focused event. By the late 1990s, attendance swelled to thousands, prompting geographic expansion into Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East.
Over time, the event broadened beyond cryptography. Themes transitioned toward cloud security, mobility, and broader cybersecurity challenges. The inclusion of high-profile speakers from both the tech and business worlds further elevated its profile, turning RSAC into an industry-wide gathering.
Today, RSAC operates globally across the United States, UK, Asia/Japan, and the UAE. In 2025, the U.S. edition welcomed around 45,000 attendees in San Francisco’s Moscone Center from April 28 to May 1.
The 2025 theme, “Many Voices. One Community,” emphasized the need for collective action against evolving cyber threats—a sentiment woven throughout sessions and keynotes.
RSAC also honors cryptographic pioneers through its annual Award for Excellence in Mathematics. In 2025, researchers recognized for their groundbreaking work in public-key cryptography and homomorphic encryption received the distinction, underscoring the event’s ongoing ties to its cryptographic roots.
The RSA Conference—now RSAC Conference—has grown from a niche cryptography gathering into the leading global stage for cybersecurity. The 2025 conference underscored the field’s evolving threats, the need for collective vigilance, and the transformative role of AI and identity-focused security. As technology advances and threats escalate, RSAC remains at the forefront—where the cybersecurity world truly talks.
